Amphibians

April 2024

After a very poor and worrying start of the rainy season the south-western Erongo Mountains have received some good late rains.

During a stroll down a dry riverbed two frogs were discovered:

A Pigmy Toad and a Sand Frog, which after definite identification will be added to our Amphibian List.

For most of the year, this area is dry. It is only in the rainy season a tranformation takes place that turn this arid area into a habitat in which amphibians can thrive.

Frogs come out to play and their trill at night is a true delight. Pictured here is a Pigmy Toad (left) and Sand Frog (right).
